Handlebar size on kid’s road bikes are a critical safety item, if they are too big – the child’s ability to maintain control is significantly reduced. It’s important to avoid that classic ‘spread arms’ look you see on poorly designed/specified kids bikes.
Traditional oversized 31.8mm handlebars used on adult drop handlebars are too wide for a child’s narrow shoulders and small fingers, as they can’t stretch around such a wide drop bar, struggling to reach the brake and shifters, compromising control. Using compact drop, short reach 25.4mm diameter bars improves this drastically.
Narrow drop handlebars for Junior/Youth/Kids road bikes in 330mm centre-to-centre width, in a child-friendly 26mm diameter to suit small fingers.
