A bike to do it all? Not only is it a superb Cyclocross or Triathlon bike giving younger riders the big benefit of 700c wheels, you can also choose the chainring to gear for your rider’s British Cycling age group on road events – U8, U10 or U12.
All built with correct, child-specific components so they can ride in comfort, putting all their power down on the road or field. This is not simply a small frame, with cheap adult components that make it difficult. This is a low-standover, short cockpit bike with narrow Q-factor, proportional cranks.
Best of all, it can still climb, so it’s perfect for leisure rides in the holidays, trail or road. It’s even ready for a trip to the Alps, thanks to it’s 12-36t cassette and long-cage mech producing a sub-2 metre gear rollout (34Tx36t) on 700x20c tyres. An important consideration when putting smaller children on 700c wheels.
Our Scatto J-Cross 28 bikes are a game-changer, because your rider doesn’t have to wait until their 11 years old to ride a 700c bike anymore (for reference, the small 9-year old test rider in our photograph is 134cm tall with a 62cm inside leg).
